FAQs

Q. How do I find out about pricing?

USC representatives are able to classify all of our material on a scale ranging from low to exotic. Each fabricator has their own classification, for exact pricing, please contact your fabricator directly.

Q. What is the “Unique Series” Line?

A line specifically carried by USC that offers exotic material at a mid-price point.

Q. What is the difference between Quartz and Quartzite?

Quartz, such as our PolarStone and Ellipse lines, are a man made material; Quartzite is a natural stone that is stronger and more durable than even granite.

Q. What is the difference in the finishes (i.e.: Polished, Honed, Suede, Brushed, etc.)?

You’ve probably noticed that we carry material in many different finishes, the most commonly known being polished, which has a high shine, glossy finish. Other finishes that we carry are Honed – a smooth matted finish, Suede- has more of a texture. Flamed, Brushed and Leathered are all created with intense heat to give the stone even more texture. All finishes are easy to clean, maintain and should all be sealed for protection.

Q. When would I use 2cm vs 3cm?

3cm slabs are 11/4” thick and are more commonly used for kitchen countertops.

2cm slabs are ¾” thick and are used most often for backsplashes, bath & fireplace surrounds, showers and tabletops.

Q. What exactly is a Hand Select?

A Hand Select is the opportunity for you to see the exact slabs that will go into your project. A hand select will be scheduled when you have decided on the right material for your project, have spoken with your fabricator regarding price and know the number of slabs needed.
