Quartz

Quartz is a man-made engineered stone surface formed by combining 90% ground quartz (a natural hard mineral) with 8-10% resins, polymers, and pigments. This forms a very hard granite-like surface. How it looks depends on how the quartz is ground: coarsely-ground quartz produces a flecked appearance while finely-ground quartz produces a smooth look.

Unique Stone Concepts now carries two quartz lines:

Our PolarStone line is inspired by timeless Italian marble. No other surface on the market combines perfect marble design with the durability of quartz. These advanced quartz surfaces are heat, chip and stain resistant and made for those who love to cook. Enjoy preparing your favorite meals on this non-porous and non-absorbent surface. No bacteria growth, no need to seal or reseal. Created by innovative engineering and exclusively offered by Unique Stone Concepts.

Our Ellipse Quartz line boasts 10 colors, specifically chosen to meet market demands. Ellipse Quartz combines up to 93% quartz with the latest thermo-cure, binding technology. These surfaces come from our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, and are non-porous, waterproof, stain and scratch resistant and easy to maintain. Ellipse Quartz surfaces are perfect for kitchen and bathroom countertops and other indoor surface applications. The colors are ideal for all your indoor commercial projects, and are very affordable!

Pros: Extremely hard and durable; glossy sheen; non-porous and stain-and-crack resistant; does not require sealing or resealing; wide range of colors; easy to clean with mild soap, water, and a soft cloth.

Cons: Generally more expensive than basic granites; not as heat tolerant as granite; seams are inevitable for large countertop designs.
